Meteor Version Support Status
This document outlines the current support status for different Meteor versions, including both development support from the Meteor core team and hosting support on Galaxy.
Galaxy continues to provide hosting support for all major Meteor versions:
✅ Meteor 1.x – Active hosting support
✅ Meteor 2.x – Active hosting support
✅ Meteor 3.x – Active hosting support
The Meteor core team has clarified the current support status of the various Meteor versions and what developers can expect moving forward. This breakdown addresses the support changes following major releases, such as Meteor 3.
🚫 Meteor 1.x – End-of-Life (EOL)
Meteor 1.x is no longer supported and is not receiving updates or security patches. The Meteor core team strongly encourages any remaining users to migrate to newer versions.
⚠️ Meteor 2.x – Maintenance Mode starting July 2025
Meteor 2.x will enter Maintenance Mode in July 2025. From that point on, it will only receive critical security updates, and no new features will be added. The version will completely reach End-of-Life in December 2025.
✅ Meteor 3.x – Active Support
Meteor 3 is the current officially supported version, with full ongoing development, improvements, and feature additions. This version includes significant architectural enhancements, including support for ESM and SWC. The Meteor core team highly recommends upgrading to Meteor 3 as soon as possible to take advantage of modern features and maintain access to important updates.
