Extended Backup Retention
Keep your database backups longer than the standard 4 days. Here's what it costs and how to request it.
Galaxy takes daily backups automatically and keeps them for 4 days at no extra cost. Extended retention lets you keep those backups for longer: 15 days, 30 days, or a custom period.
What It Costs
Extended retention is billed at US$ 0.06 per GB per day for storage beyond the standard 4-day window. The charge is based on your allocated database size, not how much data you're currently storing.
Formula: allocated size (GB) × extra days × $0.06
| Database size | Retention | Extra days | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 GB | 14 days | 10 | US$ 6.00 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | 26 | US$ 7.80 |
| 20 GB | 30 days | 26 | US$ 31.20 |
Charges are pro-rated from the date you enable it and appear as a line item on your next invoice.
Allocated size, not current usage
If you allocated 50 GB but only use 20 GB, extended retention charges you for 50 GB. Galaxy reserves backup storage at full capacity.
How to Request It
Contact Galaxy Support via live chat or email. Include:
- Your database name
- How long you want to keep backups (15 days, 30 days, or a specific number)
Support confirms the cost and enables it immediately. No disruption to your database or existing backups.
